Preparatory & Pre-Professional Tracks

  • Preparatory Ballet

    Ages 11-14

    w/ Recommendation or by assessment

    Thursdays 4:30-5:30

    Instructor: Tiana

    ● A preparatory track as dancers prepare for a pre-professional track

    ● Students will participate in an assessment if they would like to be considered

    ● Assessments may be ongoing throughout the year, meaning students could enter the track midyear on a case-by-case basis

    ● Come in “uniform” (black leo, pink tights, hair in bun, dance skirt)

    ● Must also enroll in at least 2 other dance classes per week

    ● Cannot miss more than 3 classes per term due to unexcused absence in order to be eligible to stay in the program the following year

    ● The following skills should be mastered or emerging:

    ○ Clean single pirouette with emerging clean double

    ○ Precise, consistent technique

    ○ Flexibility standards (can do a split to one or both sides, heel stretch, can get leg to top barre without lifting hip)

    ○ Solid demi pointe, can balance without

    barre for at least 10 seconds without compensating or wobbling

    ○ Can learn and execute at least 2 full counts of 8 with 1 or less mistakes

  • Pre-Professional Ballet

    Ages 15+

    w/ Recommendation or by assessment

    -Tuesday 5:00-6:30 pre-pro flat in Concord w/ Zoe

    Tuesday 6:45-7:45 pre-pro pointe in Concord w/ Mary

    Also required:

    Monday 6:45-7:45 adv ballet [flat] at LDB w/ Amy

    Thursday 6:30-7:30 adv pointe at LDB w/ Clarissa

    Must enroll in all required classes

    The following skills should be mastered or emerging:

    -Clean double pirouette to both sides

    -Can learn and execute at least 3 counts of 8 across the floor, making no more than 1 mistake

    -Full split both sides

    -Holds leg at 90 degrees to front, side, and back for at least 10 seconds without lifting hip

    -Solid demi pointe, can balance without barre for at least 20 seconds without compensation or wobbling

    -Reliably uses technique (ex: pointed feet, straight knees, controlled arms)

    -Prepared for class wearing appropriate ballet attire

    -Adherence to attendance policy - cannot miss more than 3 classes per term due to unexcused absence in order to continue to participate in the track

  • Pre-Professional Pointe

    To be taken in conjunction with Pre-Pro Track

    Tuesdays 6:45-7:45 at Dance Prism w/ Mary

    This class will be run as an advanced ballet class with the expectation that pointe work is executed with precision and technique
