Beginner Jazz & Tap Combo Class
Mondays 4:30-5:30
Grades K-4
Instructor: Tiana
Students are introduced to the foundations of jazz and tap dance. The curriculum focuses on learning body isolations, levels in space, basic jazz terminology, and distinguishing nuances aligned with each style.
● Combo class - 30min tap, 30min jazz
● 2 recital dances, 1 costume
Dress Code: Fitted athletic wear, black tap shoes, black jazz shoes

Intermediate Jazz
Mondays 5:30-6:30
Grades 3-7 w/ recommendation
Instructor: Tiana
At the intermediate level, students are asked to quickly
apply the basics of jazz dance to more complex
choreography. An additional emphasis is placed on stamina
and strength building in order to prepare them for more
advanced jazz work.
● At least 2 years related experience in jazz or ballet
● By end of year, easily executes: kick/under/over ball
change, clean jazz pirouettes, axel turn, leap in second, correct arm placement for jazz concepts, and other foundational concepts
Dress Code: fitted athletic wear, black jazz shoes

Advanced Jazz
Thursdays 5:30-6:30
by recommendation only
Instructor: Tiana
At this level, dancers are expected to bring a high level of
dynamic energy to their movements, in addition to honing
pristine technique. More stylistic choreography will be
added in order for students to learn a wide-range of
genres, ranging from jazz funk to broadway jazz. The
expectation is that choreography is picked up quickly and
executed with exceptional energy and technique.
Required at start of year:
● At least 4 years experience in jazz or contemp
● Comfortable with sharp, strong movement without hesitation
● Able to quickly get down to the floor and back up
● Mastered or emerging split
● Clean double pirouettes and split saut de chat
● Comfortable with leap in second, calypso, axel turns, etc
● Able to quickly pick up at least 2 counts of 8 and execute with 1 or less mistakes
Dress code: fitted athletic wear, black jazz shoes or Bloch Socks / grippy socks
Contemporary Classes

Contemporary I
Tuesdays 6:45-7:45
w/recommendation
Instructor: Amy H
With ballet and jazz as a foundation, this class introduces
students to the fluid movement of contemporary. We
explore unique ways of expressing ourselves through dance
while incorporating techniques derived from multiple
genres. Students work hard to build up strength, flexibility,
and comfort with contemporary choreography.
Expected by end of year:
● At least 3 years experience in ballet and/or jazz
● Comfortable with a range of styles (ex: ballet, jazz, modern, lyrical)
● Able to quickly get down to the floor and back up
● Mastered or emerging split
● Clean pirouettes and split saut de chat
● Able to bear weight on hands/wrists, comfortable with inversions
Dress code: Dance Attire, Bare-Feet, Flesh Colored Half-Soles, or Bloch Socks / grippy socks

Contemporary II
Mondays 7:45-8:45

As students progress to a higher level of contemporary, they are challenged to grow outside their comfort zones. In this class, we will work on more advanced skills and clarity of movement within combinations. Students are encouraged to bring their unique styles into the choreography as we explore freedom of expression and creativity within dance.

● At least 4 years experience in ballet and jazz or contemp
● Comfortable with a range of styles (ex: ballet, jazz, modern, lyrical)
● Able to quickly get down to the floor and back up
● Mastered or emerging split
● Clean Double pirouettes and split saut de chat

Dress code: dance wear with bare-feet, flesh-colored half soles, or Bloch Socks / grippy socks
